Licence and privacy
Free trial
Tsumugi has a free trial, with everything included. It starts when you choose Start Free Trial (or run Tsumugi: Start Free Trial), and needs an internet connection to begin. How long it lasts is on the Pricing page.
After the trial
The Story Writer needs a licence. These stay free for everyone:
- editing
.yarnfiles as text, with colours and go to node, - problems and spelling,
- the story check, and the pre-push check.
Buy a licence
Run Tsumugi: Buy a Licence, or see Pricing. Creem takes the payment as our merchant of record, and emails your receipt and licence key.
Enter your key
Run Tsumugi: Enter Licence Key… and paste the key from your receipt.
Licence Status
Tsumugi: Licence Status shows your trial or licence. It has buttons to start the trial, enter a key, buy one, manage or cancel your subscription, email us, remove the key from this computer, and copy your computer code.
During the trial, and whenever your licence needs you, the status bar says so.
Another computer
A licence works on a set number of computers at once (see the FAQ). To move it, run Tsumugi: Remove Licence Key (or Remove from This Computer in Licence Status) on the old computer, then enter the key on the new one. This needs an internet connection.
Being online
Tsumugi checks your licence over the internet. If it can’t for too long, the Story Writer locks until it can. Your story is safe, and text editing always works. See Do I need to be online? in the FAQ.
Updates
Keep Tsumugi up to date. Soon after a new version comes out, older versions stop opening the Story Writer. When Tsumugi asks, click Update now (or run Tsumugi: Update Tsumugi Now), then Reload Now.
Cancelling
Cancel any time, in Creem’s customer portal. Run Tsumugi: Manage or Cancel Subscription to open it, then type the email you bought with: Creem emails you a link to sign in. See How do I cancel? in the FAQ.
Privacy
Your stories and game files never leave your computer. What Tsumugi does send, why, and who handles it, is in the Privacy Policy. Read it in VS Code with Tsumugi: Privacy Policy.
Once a day, Tsumugi sends anonymous counts of how it is used. To turn them off, untick Send anonymous usage info in the Settings tab, or set tsumugi.usage.share to false. Turning off VS Code’s telemetry turns them off too.
Licence Status also shows your computer code. To ask us to delete your trial record, email us that code. Copy Computer Code copies it.
